How to Deal with Imposter Syndrome

Hello and welcome to the blog!

Today’s topic is IMPOSTER SYNDROME and how to deal with it when you don’t feel like you’re good enough. This happens in the influencer industry all the time and no one seems to talk about it, so we love to bring transparency to these things.

What is imposter syndrome? 

  • Definition: The feeling and fear that you'll be 'found out' to be undeserving, unqualified or a fraud. It’s you BELIEVING that you are unworthy, not anyone else.

    Imposter syndrome cycle

    • Starting on a project / putting yourself out there / etc

    • Experiencing anxiety, self doubt, or worry that makes you NOT accept something, or over-prepare or procrastinate 

    • You ignore others positive feedback

    • Giving up / leading to more anxiety /etc

    • This is something that definitely holds a lot of people back the industry and one of the major hills to overcome 

  • Who deals with it? 

    • EVERYONE. It’s so easy to think that other people don’t deal with this because social media is a highlight reel but literally everyone deals with it!!! 

    • It’s definitely something that holds a lot of people back in this industry from growing / staying consistent 

  • Our experiences with it + different ways that this can come out in the industry

    • Getting a really high offer / budget in a campaign - not feeling like you’re worth it or that you don’t deserve the money

    • Comparing yourself to others engagement, brand deals, success in general 

      • It’s so important to keep your blinders on and stay in your lane

    • Not thinking your content is good enough 

    • Not pitching yourself because you don’t feel good enough or ready to work with a specific brand

  • How to deal with it (and tips on how we deal with it as well)

    • Acknowledging that you’re experiencing some self doubt and separate those feelings from the fact. 

    • Remember that you are THINKER and not the THOUGHT.

    • Talk to other people in the industry / friends / have a vent sesh and move on to the best of your ability

    • Manifestations + affirmations help a lot - so when it does happen you feel ready

    • focus on POSITIVE VIBES 

    • Remember that everyone is faking it til they make it

    • We didn’t know what we were doing when we started and sometimes we still don’t… but we have each other to lean on.

    • Today’s / this week’s manifestation for the holiday seasons:

      “I AM GOOD ENOUGH. I DESERVE IT. I WORK HARD. I ATTRACT WHAT’S MINE. I AM WORTHY. I AM A BOSS” 

      Now repeat that 3x!!!
