How to Stay Organized as a Content Creator

Hi babes!!

When you first go full time, it can definitely be stressful or even if it’s a side hustle for you. It can all be overwhelming, so it’s important to find best practices that work for you to help you stay on top of everything!

Here are some tips that we share on our podcast episode: How to Stay Organized as a Content Creator

  • Look into planners

    • I am a visual person so I have to write EVERYTHING down

    • I’m very particular with the layout so I’ve tried a ton of different planners

    • Personally - I love a full week layout on the two pages and then each day broken down by time so I can see the progression of each day

    • My favorite is Erin Condren

    • Use your phone calendar if you like to see things digitally

  • Emails

    • Create folders to help organize campaigns

    • Ex. Paid partnerships, gifting, content creation, etc

    • Everyone is different with how they organize. Do what feels best for you

    • For Gmail - drag emails that you want to remember to follow up with onto GOOGLE TASKS

    • Prep emails to send early in the am so you don’t stress about having to send them (auto send feature using gmail or streak)

    • Create an email that’s separate from your personal emails - I want to make sure I never miss an important email so I keep my work email completely separate

  • Checklist

    • Love starting the day out with a full checklist or prep it the night before so I know exactly what i'm doing that day instead of wasting time

    • I like to start with the smallest / easiest task first then move on to the bigger tasks - I feel more accomplished / productive doing it this way

    • Google tasks is great to pull emails into and check it off so you respond to everyone

  • Calendar (more of a month view)

    • Write down: Deadlines, events, shoots days so you know how to plan and don’t become overwhelmed

    • Know when you have to post certain campaigns that way you can see exclusivity dates too

    • Don’t book campaigns for the same day (It’s happened to all of us)

    • You can share your calendar with friends if you guys are trying to plan different things

  • Create a routine

    • Admin work, editing, scheduled post dates on other platforms, etc

    • Every day is different so to stay productive on at home days I try to stick with my routine

    • Specific days of when you post certain content - I try to have a consistent schedule because it holds me accountable + platforms reward you for consistency.

      • Ex. Blog post mondays, Youtube Tuesdays, Reels - 3x a week (mon, tues, thurs, sat)

    • When I see content I need to create on the calendar it keeps me consistent & reach my goals of posting

  • Spreadsheets (Excel, google sheets)

    • Organization for taxes

    • Collabs coming in - track what you have going on

    • Keep track of who you’re pitching

    • Things in the pipeline

    • Expenses + bookkeeping

    • Invoices

    • Tracking who has paid you and who hasn’t

  • Shooting

    • Planning outfits ahead of time

    • Making google slides - so you know what your outfit is, what accessories, shoes, hair style, etc

    • Using saved albums on IG for inspo: Ex. Fall outfits, posing ideas, location inspo

    • The more you plan ahead of time, the easier and more efficient it is to batch content

Hopefully these organizational tips are helpful! As content creators, we are running our own small businesses and have to stay on top of everything and it can be alot.
